As
you look through the beautiful finished products depicted
in our online showroom catalog, we
don't want you to forget that beauty is more than skin deep,
that there is more here than meets the eye.
Our products are different from others. They are the result
of hard work, skilled craftsmanship, quality materials and
expert construction. To demonstrate what this all means, we
invite you to walk through the "Making of a Classic"
with us in our factory.
Once you select a style and a fabric, the first step in making
your selection come to life is getting your fabric to our
cutting department. When the fabric you select is from our
collection, we work to maintain enough inventory on hand to
allow prompt production and shipment of your order. When it
is one of your choosing from some other source, we carefully
accept your shipment of fabric, inspect it and mark it for
your order. If requested, after your pieces are cut, we will
ship the remaining fabric to you according to your instructions.
Once
in the cutting department, our cutters have years of experience
and the expertise that comes with it, allowing you the confidence
that they are handling your fabric with care and cutting it
with precision to fit your piece. They evaluate your fabric
and style to get the best application for beauty and durability.
After your fabric is cut, our sewing department works with
superior equipment and experienced sewers to maintain the
quality of your piece. Seams and pattern matches are checked
as your piece goes through the sewing department, leaving
for upholstery.
As
the cutting and sewing department handles your piece, the
frame shop begins the preparation and construction of your
frame.
Our
frames are constructed from the finest kiln-dried hardwoods
available. The frames are engineered for strength and mass
assembly, constructed from hardwoods and plywoods. All frames
are built using double dowels, glue and screwed corner blocks
for lifelong durability.
Completed frames are lined with a woven nylon that is designed
to restore shape when pressure is removed, preserving the
outer appearance of the product. The style ordered dictates
the placement and types of springs, which are installed in
the finished frame.
We use a variety of spring systems in our products, depending
on the style. They include eight-way hand tied coils, sinuous
or no sag wire, Morley and Pirelli rubber webbing.
Finished
covers are forwarded from the sewing department to the cushion
department, where cushions are completed as the production
process continues. We use top quality cushions, composed of
polyurethane cores wrapped in polyester fiber and enclosed
in a muslin ticking, to allow a luxurious appearance and seating
comfort. Back pillows are filled with 100% polyester, giving
them the appearance of down with better resiliency and no
down-like odor. Optional cushion filled materials include
Classic Down, Comfort Down and Crown Plus.
The
final step in the construction, the upholstery process, is
the most important to the look and feel of your completed
piece. Finished frames, complete with their newly installed
spring system, are matched to finished covers and cushions
and they are all put together to form a finished chair, sofa
or other upholstered piece.
Our upholsterers are experienced and skilled in taking the
components and assembling them in a manner that ensures beauty,
durability and comfort in your finished product. They take
fabrics, padding, cushions, and tickling and put them together
with care and craftsmanship.
Once
the piece is completed, it goes through a thorough inspection
and is cleaned up for shipment to you or your customer.
Throughout this process, your product is given the benefit
of years of manufacturing experience, and research and development
for new and better ways to make upholstery. We strive to make
the best products possible and are proud of the work that
we do.
With all that in mind, your satisfaction, and that of your
client, is our ultimate goal. We welcome your comments and
input into this process.
We
appreciate and Thank You for your business and look forward
to serving
your furniture needs in years to come.
